Dedicated to the Lord Murugan, the Batu Caves is the most popular Hindu shrine outside of India. The Batu Caves takes it's name from the Batu River or Sungai Batu, which flows past the limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples north of Kuala Lumpur. To reach the caves, which is said to be around 400 million years old, visitors must climb a steep flight of 272 steps.
